Using up the scraps

Do you ever love a paper so much that you can't bear to toss the scraps you're left with after you've completed your layout?

I had the bits and pieces from my last layout (remember Daniel and the Creepy Crawlies last week?) lying on my table and when I pulled out my photos to start my next project I thought the sepia toned photo of my daughter looked amazing with the natural tones in the left over pieces of the Basic Grey 'Origins' patterned paper. So I started building my layout with the scraps.

I started with a clean white sheet of cardstock that I sprayed with green Maya Mist and a little yellow from an ink spray I had made myself in a mini mister. Check out this post on making your own ink sprays in the mini misters.
Then I grabbed my scraps and my photo and started playing around with positioning it on the page. I ended up with a basic L shape framing two sides of my photo.

I used a strip of patterned paper across the horizontal scrap piece, to ground my photo(this is one of the strips with the barcode on the backside)and a length of yellow velvet ric rac. Love that stuff!

I added a big, beautiful Prima bloom to the corner and then added some more paper flowers around it. The brads in the center of the paper flowers are from the Origins collection.

I stuck a shipping tag I had sprayed with walnut ink under the photo and then stuck down the title. The brown sticker alpha is Basic Grey from the Indian Summer line. I think it goes just as well with the Origins line. 'glow' is green Thickers stickers.

To finish it off I dropped some pretty green jewels randomly on the sprayed areas.

And to use up the last of my scraps I punched a few butterflies and attached them amongst the bling.
