3rd challenge done

Where has March gone?  I had such great aspirations at the beginning of the month.
So far I've only managed to get 3 challenges completed.
This one is from the Kraft It Up blog.

The challenge was:
  1. 1 Kraft paper
  2. 2 photos
  3. 3 word title
  4. 4 patterned papers ~ My Little Yellow Bicycle
  5. 5 embellishments ~ Prima bling leaves, MM flags, Prima flowers, Bakers twine, punched butterflies
Still tonight and tomorrow to work on a challenge (or two).  Anyone else have any to show us?

Challenge #2

This time I played at White with 1.

The challenge is to use white with kraft and to layer.

I started with a piece of kraft cardstock and using my Mr Huey's white mist and my Tim Holtz scroll mask I created the background.

I started layering with a crumbled piece of 7Gypsies tissue paper.  I could have used an old sewing pattern for the tissue paper, but the 7Gypsies stuff is so pretty.  It has butterflies, bird cages and postmarks stamped randomly all over it.  I love it.

I layered a doily and a Jenni Bowlin journaling piece under the photo and a scalloped chipboard circle over top.

I added some white Maya Rd rub-ons around the edges of the tissue paper and then decided they were too white so I painted them with 'latte' metallic Maya mist.

I punched a few butterflies out of white cardstock and used brads to attach them in place.

The felt bird is also Maya Rd.  I'm using lots of bits and pieces on this layout.

And lots of Prima.  Love all their different styles of flowers.  The ferny leaves are punched out of packaging.

Two challenges finished.  Lots more to go.

Challenge #1

I used the March sketch at Stuck?! Sketches for my first challenge layout.

My layout came together quickly because I used coordinating pieces from Little Yellow Bicycle's Saturday line. I used the chipboard shapes and tear-out tickets for my banner.

This photos are of my son at his first job.  I let all his workmates know I wanted a picture of him working so they all stood around and teased him til he refused to look at the camera.  He was totally embarassed.  Poor boy.  He'll be glad I got these photos... in a hundred years :)

 Some closeups...

The banner is my favourite part.  I really love this banner trend. The triangles, buttons and word flags are from the chipboard package. The cardstock flags and tickets are from the tear-out booklet.

Some more chipboard pieces layered

The larger button is by October Afternoon.

I still have tons of chipboard pieces, tear-out tickets and papers from this line and I'm already planning my next challenge with them.

So who else is working on a challenge?

Card Class March 20

There has been some requests for cards lately so I have created four detailed, 3D cards. I am really liking the techniques in these cards. The "thank you" card is coloured with Copic markers and the background is not patterned paper - I made it all myself! You can do it too - it's very easy! As you can see in the pinwheel card photo each card is also completed on the inside as well.

This class will run at 7:00 pm on Tuesday March 20. Cost for the class is $28 or $23 for members. Call the store at 250-785-2711 to sign up today.

This clear stamp set from Hero Arts is used on every card in the class. The best part is, you get to have your own to take home! The sparkle gems at the top look like flowers in this picture, but they are really round. We use a few in the class, but you'll have leftovers to play with as well!

Challenges...

There are a ton of challenge blogs out there.  Sketch blogs, colour blogs, journaling blogs.  You name it, there is a scrapbook challenge blog for it.  Some of them are weekly challenges, but I can never seem to get my act together quick enough to get anything done and entered.

So because it is the first of the month, I thought I would scan through all the monthly challenge blogs and jot down what I need. Tomorrow I will pop into Unforgettable Memories and find the papers and embellishments I will need to get scrapping on some of the challenges. Tomorrow is payday.  Perfect! I'll have some pocket money :)

Who wants to play along?

I like working with kraft coloured papers.  It is such a great neutral.  The first challenge blog I checked out was Kraft It Up.  I think I'll pick up some of the Bazzill textured kraft cardstock. There's some with little flowers embossed all through, or the dotty stuff is fun too.

White with 1 is another good challenge blog.  And this month it is white with kraft and layering.  I'll have to pick up a second piece of that Bazzill kraft cardstock.

Get Picky is a challenge site after my own heart.  They have challenges for multiphoto layouts and I rarely do layouts with less then 3 photos on them, especially when they're double pagers.  If you have girlie photos you will like the challenge this month (due March 13th Aussie time).  It's a pink and yellow, flowery challenge.  Check it out at the Get Picky blog.

If you have boy photos then Scrap the Boys is a challenge blog for you.  The challenge?  Use 'life is good' for the title, have red somewhere on the page and handwritten journaling.

If it's girls you have then Scrap the Girls is the challenge blog for you.  Easy challenge here.  "Celebrations".  Check out the blog to see their DTs inspiration.

There is a heap of sketch challenge blogs out there...

And how about another freaking scrappy challenge?  Ha Ha.  That is what my last challenge blog is really called. And the challenge is to scrap Spring Break so dig through those photos and find something to scrap.

So who's playing? Lets see who can complete the most challenges this month.

Feel free to add any of your favourite challenge blogs into the comments below.
