Updated the Calendar of Events

So computers are a great thing when they work. I decided I would send mine in for a quick look see to make sure all is good just in case...I sure do miss it though! I can't wait to get it back tomorrow. It's amazing how many times I went to my desk and tried to get the screen to come up but remembered I had taken the CPU in to get cleaned.

So anyway I did manage to sneak on the front desk and get the newsletter sent out to you all! I also updated the calendar of events and posted pictures and descriptions for all those available.

I have a couple more classes to add but am just waiting for some date confirmations and will let everyone know!

Based on a sketch

Ever feel stuck? Sit and stare at your pictures and all the great product but can't make that first cut? Me too! I find that sometimes a bare sketch will inspire me or at least give me a starting point. In the Fall 2008 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine (available at the store with a purchase of $30.00 or more) they offer a quarterly sketch. You can then submit your layout online to http://www.scrapbookandcards.com/submission1.html. The deadline for the Fall sketch is October 20th. The sketch is only for a one page layout but I extended it to create a two page layout. Here is the layout I think I will submit. I used Garden Party paper from My Minds, Thickers letters, and some pumpkin ribbon from the stash. These pictures were taken last month down in Taylor at the Jon Curtis Vegetable Garden. Have you heard? This is the last year Jon will be running the garden. I hope someone takes over. Sad to think this might be the last opportunity for some pumpkin patch photos in our area. Happy Scraping!

Prima Sketch

Has anyone used the Prima Sketch I posted a couple days ago?

I used it for a layout of me as a child. The papers are Daisy D's from last Christmas's paper pack. I've used TH grunge board numbers on this layout. I love that they're embossed. I just inked them up(with black ink) and roughed the edges with a serated edge. Added loads of Prima blooms and some silver mesh for embellishments.

New Scrapbooks & Cards Today!

We just received our shipment of Scrapbook & Cards Today! What a gorgeous issue!

Stop by today to get your free copy with a $30 purchase!
Ohhh and I finally managed to get past the computer glitches and send out the current newsletter so watch your mail box for it too! ( or you can click on the link down on the right of this screen) There are some great classes coming up!

November Layout Class

I know some of you scrappers have been asking about a layout for a class. In the beginning of November we will create a layout using My Minds Eye Out and About No. 1 paper line. We will use some die cut pieces, flocked paper and chipboard embellishments. When you can't find just the right letters for your title, I will also show you how to make your own. Here is a picture of a portion of the layout. Look for more of the layout to be in the store soon.

I am Blessed

So, I have been working hard to complete the samples for all of my upcoming classes. Here is a sneak peak at the Acrylic All Mixed Up Book. This class will be at the end of November. It will be a great mini book to show off all your great Fall photos or you could change a collection of your most prized photos to sepia. If you are interested try to gather photos that remind you why you are blessed. Think; family, home, friends, loved ones or things and precious memories. Just waiting for a little more product to come in and of course I have to print of my pictures and then the project will be in the store for you to check out!

Circle Journals

Have you ever signed up for one? Circle journals have become very popular these days, but they're not a new idea. Many artists have participated in round robins. The idea of a circle journal is quite similar. A circle journal is a book passed along through a group, each participant making their own contribution before sending it on.

There are so many fun reasons to join a circle journal. You get to connect with other scrapbookers, be creative and contribute to another’s book, see other's work in your own and end up with a great little coffee table book at the end. I have three completed CJs on my coffee table. They've traveled across Canada and to various US States before coming home to Fort St John. They're a wonderful source of inspiration when I'm looking for something new to try or just trying to boost my mojo. Just think of all the different and unique contributions the different scrapbookers you know can offer.

I'm participating in a CJ at the moment that is slightly different from other's I've worked on. Instead of completing the pages with our own photos and journaling we create an 8x8 page based on the theme posted by the person we are sending to that month and leave blank mattes for the CJ owner to add their own photos. The pages I was working on this month were for a 'Friends' album. This is what I did for her.

I hope Bonnie likes the fun, bright colours I used. And my bird. I freehanded two 'S's on the back of my patterned paper, joining them at the beak and tail. The wing is a paisley shape also freehanded on the back of my pp. I used an eyelet for his eye and black jute for his legs.

And here's a couple sneak peaks of a birthday layout I dropped off at the store yesterday...
