Overlays and sparkles

Overlays are a great way to add lots of detail quickly and easily to a layout.  Unforgettable Memories has quite a few different designs.  The overlay I used on this layout is a Christmas themed one.  The border around the page, the Love quote along the bottom and the corner scrolls are all printed on the overlay.

I placed my photo, mattings, 'Smash' journal spot, and a couple of flatter embellishements under the overlay.   The Prima flowers, butterflies, wood stars and Kaiser jewels are on top of the overlay.

My base is white and the words on the overlay are white so I used some green metallic Making Memories acrylic paint under the overlays title and quote so it would show up better.  I also edged my photo matte with the same green.  It matches the green border of the overlay perfectly!

I used a piece of white sparkly cardstock as a base. I love the little flowers Unforgettable Memories got in.  They are great as accents on punched butterflies, as fillers for flower clusters or just on their own.

I put Kaiser jewels on the overlay design in a few places.  They really bling up my page.

My flower cluster is a mix of pretty Prima flowers and leaves. The cheesecloth underneath it all adds texture.

ho ho Ho. The Prima mini letters come in so many different colours I was able to find the perfect colour for this layout.  The sticker words are from the Simple Stories baby line.  The journaling spot is one of K&Co. Smash pads.

So if you're looking for a quick way to dress up a page check out the many different overlays at Unforgettable Memories. This one was in the Christmas section.  There are some cute summer & beach ones as well as some really interesting Halloween ones and many more themes.

A couple more Smash Journal pages

We had one cloudy, cooler day on our vacation this summer.  We took a vote and the one's that wanted to go to the Community Center to swim, won.
I used up a Cosmo Cricket sticker sheet on this page.  And I strung some Making Memory tags on binder twine. Quick and easy page.

Breanna dyed her cousins hair.  Just a couple crimson streaks.  She was so excited to get 'beautified'.
I used loads of bling on this page.  The purple hearts are a set from Prima.  I used some older diecuts and rubons from my stash. And some of the Smash tape. I love how this page turned out.

Smash Holiday journal

I'm finally getting around to working on this.  I picked up my photos more than a week ago, from Unforgettable Memories.  I had most of them printed in the 3"x4" size to accomodate the smaller size of the Smash Journal pages.

This little album is perfect for using up scraps.  I pulled out all the left over pieces from my last few layouts and lots of 'almost done' embellishment packages and went to work.

My first page is about the drive down. One of my 17 year olds just got his N and loves to drive.  He doesn't usually get to drive the new truck, but because I knew I'd want a break on the long ride, we temporarily added the insurance needed to let him drive.  It was pretty hard to get him out of the drivers seat after that.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do you rememember I mentioned I grabbed the 'Baby' themed Smash Journal by mistake?  Well this next page was one of the very baby themed pages.  The words on the right page say "Just Hangin' in my Crib".  I covered up the second line and left the Just Hangin'.
The picture on the left side is of a baby in his crib.  I just covered it up with papers, my photo and lots of bits and pieces.
Lots of scraps here.  Some Crate Paper, some Jilly Bean, some Reminisce.  Lots of tape. Some Prima, Bo Bunny, Making Memories and other miscellaneous embellishments.
I'll post a couple more pages tomorrow.
Planning a holiday album & a new cameraII
We are in Whistler all week with my side of the family.  I thought I'd make an album of just this holiday because I know we'll be doing fun stuff every day.
I picked up one of the Smash journals and some of the matching product. Little note pads, date stamp, washi tape, tabs...
I got here and realized the Smash journal I'd grabbed was the Baby Style one. Oops. But I'll make it work.
I also bought myself a new camera.  We have a big one, but I don't always want to lug it around so I picked up this pretty pink FujiFilm from Unforgettable Memories. It fits in my purse perfectly.  There are some great features on this little camera.  I can take Panorama shots when we go up the mountain in the gondola. I can take continuous shots to capture these kids who move so quickly. Sometimes it's hard to catch them in the act... And I can turn on a screen grid so I can plan my shots.
So far it is taking awesome photos. I can't wait to get them developed and start putting them in my journal.
Heather's Smash and Mash
I was at the Smash and Mash last night.  So fun to see everyone's pages and scrapbook along with the ladies.
I managed to almost complete 3 pages in my Smash Album. I snapped some photos of them while they were on my desk.
The first page is of my two boys, hamming it up for the camera in their Grad tux's.  Such handsome boys :)
I used Smash tape ~ it comes coloured in funky blocks like that.  And a couple of Smash tabs to hold my photo in place. The brad is Crate Paper and the chipboard button is My Little Yellow Bicycle.
I also stamped the date using my new Smash stamper.  It has a bunch of cute sayings on the same rotating date stamper.  Really neat and reasonably priced.  They are tucked in with the Smash display.  Check them out.  I know I'm going to be using my stamper on many layouts.
-------------------------
This next page is my family with my parents.  It's been over 7 years since we've all been in the same place at the same time so it was wonderful of my friend Lilia to bring over her camera and get us all to pose for this photo.  Thanks, Lilia!
I used Prima leaves and flowers, Smash polka dot tap & journal tab, green MM paint and Prima sticker letters.
-----------------------------
This last page is a picture of me that isn't too, too bad.  I hate photos of me and most of them end with a tap of the delete key.  I see a 25 year old me when I look in the mirror,  why do I see such an old me in photos?
I punched a butterly shape out of some cardstock and used it as a stencil with the MM green paint.  Then I outlined it with my black pen and put a gold jewel on the body.
The paper is out of Ang's scrap bag. Thanks, Ang!
I used some more Smash tape and some Smash journal pages ~ still have to do the actual journaling.
The brads are Crate Paper. Clock is Prima.
I hope you'll join us for the next Smash and Mash.
These albums are really a fun way to scrap.
Karen Foster
I just loved this paper when I spotted it at the store.  The colours are gorgeous and the design is so realistic.  I knew just the photo I wanted to use with it.
This was one of those 1/2 hour layouts.
I cut one of my Prima crochet doilies in half for the banner and glued it to some copper tape I had.
I added lots more Prima flowers.
The butterflies are K&Co.
The canvas tag is MM and the transparency is 7 Gypsies.
Just Add Water
My husband came up with that title.  We spent a weekend camping at Pillar Lake in July.  Most of our waking hours were spent on the water in a variety of little boats the Resort rented out.
I designed my layout on a couple pieces of Bazzills embossed dotty cardstock.  In dark blue this time.
The tree patterned paper by K & Co is perfect for all those outdoor photos we've been taking all summer. I've used some Bella Blvd camping cutouts, Basic Grey rubons, Jenni Bowlin buttons and Bo Bunny brads.
I love that leafy ribbon ~ Unforgettable Memories has it in a variety of colours.
I managed to get 9 photos on this layout.  It really helps to get all those summer photos scrapped before the snow flies.
I challenge you to scrap a layout with 9 or more photos on it.
