Scrap Happy

I've been looking at all these fun, messy Art Journal Pages on various artsy blogs lately and thinking about making my pages messier.  One of the techniques the artists use is to paint washes (thinned out inks and paints) across their background paper.  I was thinking it looked kind of like mulberry paper which I have loads of but haven't used for eons.  So I pulled out a sheet of baby blue mulberry paper and a paintbrush to wet down where I wanted to tear it and started playing.  I just used a couple of pieces on the edges of this layout.  I wonder what it would look like if I layered it.  Hmmmm.  An idea for another layout...

I splattered various inks and mists across the white cardstock after I stuck down my mulberry paper.  I used four or five different colours.

There are lots of random bits and pieces on this layout. Prima leaves, Jeni Bowlin buttons, Bella Blvd cutouts, Chatterbox rub-ons (red), Maya Rds rub-ons (birds), Tim Holtz grunge number, miscellaneous tags and plastic drops...

Home Sweet Home

My husband has this basket where he keeps all our keys. The problem with this is the keys are never there or they are buried at the bottom of the basket. It drives me crazy. To solve this problem I am currently creating a special project to hold keys, or at least my keys. I am using a wooden page from a kaiser craft mini book and a Bits and Bites elements page from the Honey I am Home line created by Bella BLVD. I will post a picture along with price and dates once I finish this little treat. Don't forget, it is never too early to start thinking about Christmas and little presents for those special but hard to buy for people on your list. I think you can never go wrong with homemade!

Calling all Halloween Buffs!

Hey if you are anything like me you are already thinking about Halloween. I just bought my first Halloween magazine today and I have a plan for my family and their costumes. I also created a cute banner to hang closer to the BIG day. The banner spells "BOO". keep posted for dates and price of this banner.
I just realized I haven't downloaded a picture of the finished project. The banner uses new Graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland paper and embellishments, as well as Sandylion stickers, die cuts and some other spooky treats.

Karen Foster and Tattered Angels

I came across the Karen Foster patterned paper on my last visit to Unforgettable Memories.  It has fish swimming all in tones of green.  I tore wavy strips for the bottom of my layout and tucked the top part of a Tattered Angels bingo card(Life) between the layers.
The clouds are Jolees.  I first placed them upside down on the white background, sprayed with blue Glimmer Mist, and then flipped them back over and stuck them down.
I think my banner looks kinda like a sun :)
All the other embellishments are from my stash ~ MM photo corner & little alpha, Pink Paislee chipboard, Prima flowers, Bella Blvd letter stickers...

A garage sale layout...

I like to consider myself something of a garage sale jedi. :) I totally love them. I love finding things that i was going to pay full price for and there it is for $2. I love finding neat things I can use for storage in my scrapbook space. This summer I found a sweet pair of rollerblades that I have been zooming around in behind the buggy (ok, maybe not exactly zooming) and there was also a pile of fabric scraps that were thrown in FOR FREE! For free, people. So I used some of them on a layout.

Everything is sewn on to this green paper from the store that has awesome texture. I cut out two heart shapes and sewed them together, with some cotton balls stuffed in there, and then used some Maya Mist and a chipboard "g" to use as a mask for the initial.

i also found the crocheted flowers at a different garage sale last summer in Lethbridge. Yep, I even garage sale when on holidays.

I sprayed more mist on some chipboard alphas (i am never PAINTING chipboard again!!) and there's the page. Keep your eyes peeled at this weekend's yard sales - all sorts of bits and pieces that can be upcycled into something cool. Think fabric, papers, old ledger books, old books of all kinds, sheets of music, even small tools. Have fun and I'll beat you to the next one....

CHA Arrivals - Day 2

The Cricut Cake... Is there any cooler machine out there? It cuts, fondant, frosting, gum paste! There are special Cricut cartridges available for purchase. There are also frosting sheets. This is such a fun looking tool. Come by and check it out today!

CHA Arrivals - Day 1

The goodies that Lynette ordered at CHA have started arriving. We will be showcasing a different section each day. Today we are covering paper.

Some people have been asking for some purple paper so we got in these too beautiful sheets. One is from BoBunny and has a glimmer/glitter look to it.

We got some of Karen Fosters new Christmas paper in. The snowmen and Santa's are really sweet but my favourite is the Christmas lights. I know some people say its too early to think of Christmas but how can you not be in the mood with this paper?

The new BoBunny Peacock line. This beautiful paper is double sided and has rich purples and teals. We also have coordinating stickers to go with it.

Baby paper. The paper on top is new from Karen Foster and has some great quotes on it. We also have some sweet Sock Monkey paper in.

School and Hunting Paper. Some of Karen Foster's new hunting and school paper. These great sheets have so many details that there is sure to be something for someone.

Getting messy with two page layouts

I got some photos of our pets last month.  Turbo is the cat my daughter got for Christmas last year.  She picked him out herself, at the SPCA.  He is a really neat cat with loads of personality.  Tikanii, our lab/husky cross has a lot of fun with him.  They chase each other round the yard and pretend to attack one another.

I sprayed rose and gold Glimmer Mist over one of the big Glimmer Screens I have. Then used some torn scraps of paper I had left over from previous layouts.  I love the 7 Gypsies paper and I know there's still some in the store so ask for it the next time you go in.  The pinks and greens are the same tones as in my photos and the black flocked design on top really makes it a gorgeous dressy paper though I've shabbied it down for these photos.

The print paper and word stickers are Bella Blvd. The bling corner is Zsa (love it).  The bird cages are Jolee's (aren't they cute?) and, of course, I have lots of Prima on my page.

For a closer look at the details check it out at Unforgettable Memories.

Turbo also spends a lot of time dreaming about catching Rick's goldfish.  He spends a lot of time peering in to the fish pond and has, on occasion, gone swimming to get a closer look. So far he hasn't had any luck catching a fish, but you know it's just a matter of time.

On this layout I started out with two sheets of the white Bazzil embossed polka dot paper.

I sprayed it randomly with turquoise ink and splattered some darker ink on top of that.

Then I layered my torn scraps of Bella Blvd patterned papers.

The acrylic arrow is a My Little Yellow Bicycle 'clear cut'.

The tags are inked. I used some chipboard from my stash and journaled around them.

The title is Basic Grey. Flowers and leaves are Prima.

Did you notice I used one of my border punches to punch circles in my photos?  Kinda like fish bubbles coming up out through the water :)

Prima's August sketch is up.

And here it is...
Check out how the Prima DT used this sketch here.  There are some gorgeous layouts on display.

I used this sketch with the Bella Blvd papers I recently picked up at the store. Unfortunately I have no Prima papers left in my stash so I can't enter my page in to Prima's monthly contest.  If you get a chance create a layout using this sketch and all Prima product and upload it in to Prima's gallery. You could win a fabulous prize package from Prima.
I can't wait to see all the new Prima product coming in to the store over the next few weeks.

I used one of my favourite border punches on the brown pp.  I love the scallop edge with the insides hollowed out.
Did you spot the cute little bird in his cage? (top right corner)  That's a Jolee's Boutique sticker.  I'm using a couple more of them on my next layout.  They are just adorable.
I layered a couple of the Bella Blvd stickers on the brown paper to create a bit of a matte. The word strip is popdotted over the Prima branch.
The background paper is a piece of Bazzills embossed polka dot paper.

Rainy weekend = scrapbooking time

It rained this weekend so I managed to get a few layouts scrapped.   I have a couple of single pagers to show you today.
This first layout is built on Harmonie papers that I've added some pink stickles to.
Loads of Prima pretty it all up. I like the texture the Prima printed burlap adds to my page.  The big pink flower is folded in half and tucked under my matte.
  The arrow and the journal spot are by Little Yellow Bicycle.  Everytime I go in the store I pick up another packet of LYBs acrylic Clear Cut journal spots.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next layout I have to show you is a quick one I put together at midnight last night.
These two know when it's dinnertime and they make sure we don't forget it!
The background paper is by Fancy Pants.  It's their 'family' line and has a family tree printed on the reverse side.  I love the graph paper look, especially when it's all shabbied up with ink and my Making Memories distresser.
The patterned papers around my photo are MME.  And a little piece of ripped dictionary page under the brown strip.
The film strip is one of Little Yellow Bicycle's 'Clear Cuts'.
Prima flowers and black bling.  The brads in the center of the off-white flowers are by Seven Gypsies, as is the photo tab.
The title alphas are from a sheet of Bella Blvd stickers.
The bee, and the circle ties have been in my stash forever.  One of those almost empty packets that I'm trying to finish up.
I just love summer! I hope y'all are out taking fabulous bright fun summer photos that will keep you scrapping all fall (or if you're like me, the rest of your life). I made a few layouts with the Fancy Pants Rusted Sun paper that's at the store - I think I have to go get more of it, because it's just so yummy. It's great for so many different kinds of layouts, and it has flowers all over some of the papers, yet it's not too girly for my all-boy household.
The background sheet that's already printed with flowers makes it super quick and easy to put together a layout. I added a few flowers in there for dimension.
I LOVE this background paper. 100% summer. I cut the flowers out of a different sheet in the same line, and also the sun up at the corner (i think it was on the reverse side of the flower sheet...). The store also has the Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type alphabet stickers in a bunch of colors and I think I use them on nearly every layout right now. awesome!
