Been Scrapping....

So with all this summer heat I've been taking some time to soak up the cool air from the crop room here at the store and it's been fun! I've actually been scrapbooking...The kids are still on holidays so I've had some extra time on my hands. I love the time but I miss the kids, can't wait until they get home Monday.
Here's a photo of my newest layout, I made with a few extra sheets of paper and the scraps from the My Family Word Book class kit. You can email or stop by to preorder these kits now, but hurry in because we'll only have a limited number of kits available.
I almost forgot the Layout is done with the Prima Sketch that Heather posted on our blog back at the beginning of the month. You can find it at this link: http://unforgettablescrapbook.blogspot.com/2009/07/new-prima-sketch.html
Cost for the kit is $45 and for members just $40. It's created with the Bo Bunny Beautiful Life collection.

I also have a copy of Crystals Newest Class coming up August 25th at 7pm. You can email or stop by to pre register for this class or kit, again space is going to be limited so don't be disapointed and register soon!

We've also had lots of new goodies arrive from
Chatterbox ~ Canvas Albums, Albums Stands, & Photo Display stands
Ek Success ~ 3in Scallop Circle Punch
Fancy Pants ~ Wall Frames, Decorative Frame Hanger, Printed Transperancy's, New Big Board Chipboard & Mixed Meida Books
Tattered Angels ~ New Glimmer Mist Colors
American Crafts ~ New Thickers!!
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer heat and we'll see you soon!
Cheers,
Lynette

A sketch.

I just finished sketching...
and then creating the layout with Bo Bunny goodies...

I love the Bugs line from Bo Bunny. The patterned papers are fun, the stickers are perfect for so many outdoor pages, and the brads are unique. Brown, green and orange together is one of my favourite colour combos.

I hope you get a chance to use this sketch. Be sure to show us your finished layout.

A few fun techniques.

I've spent the last week playing, off and on, with this layout of our new pet, Quill. I thought I'd take pictures while I was playing so I could show you what I did.

1. First I'll show you the frame I cut out for my main photo. This is fun and easy and totally unique to you. Flip the paper over to the backside, place your photo in the middle of it for the size, and draw a frame. I drew wonky scallops. Next time I think I'll try points or brackets might like kind of neat.

You can see I pretty much freehand cut it ~ didn't even follow my lines.

Here it is when I flipped it over to the right side.
Oops. I should have cut off the manufacturers strip before cutting. I'm not worried. I'll cover any white spots with embellishments.

And here's our cute Quill matted on his fun frame.

2. For my title I started with bare chipboard. This alpha is one by Maya Roads. I found a scripty stamp in my stash, my favourite ink (Pinecone by Tsukineko) and gold Glimmer Mist.

I stamped my images randomly across the letters.

Then I sprayed them with gold Glimmer Mist. When you shake your Glimmer Mist bottle up make sure you don't shake too hard. Follow this link to see a video tutorial on how to use Glimmer Mist.

As a final step I ran my pinecone inkpad around the edges of the letters.

3. My last technique is a money saver. Who doesn't like that?
You know the backing you pull off the self adhesive embellishments? You can use that as an embellishment too. So don't toss it in the garbage. Save it. I used the backing from Prima's brown felt branch on this layout. I sprayed it with green Maya Mist and then turquoise Glimmer Mist.
It curls when it's wet, so I put it under my cutting mat for a while before glueing it to my page.

Here's the finished layout with all my fun pieces. Take a closer look at my layout next time you're in the store. Photos don't always show to the best advantage.
And if you try any of these tips be sure to let us see.

Note to self...

Or should I say note to you. Take photos of the following; Family Fun, Explore, Adventure, Fun in the Sun, Splash, Summer Retreat, Gone Fishin. If your summer has been anything like ours getting pictures that would fit these titles shouldn't be a problem. It seems I have been taking pictures everyday. I keep telling myself that every moment is not neccessarily a scrapbookable moment! I can't possibly store a lifetime of scrapbooks at the rate I am going. But hey what's another mini book! Too cute to say no and plus one minibook full with a variety of summer pictures must take up less space than a bunch of pages.

So on that note here is a peek of a mini book I am creating for a class sometime in August.
It is made using all Making Memories new travel line and the Cricut Life's a Beach cartridge. These pages are a work in progress and will be dressed up a bit more. Plus there is many other products in this line you could really go crazy!

New Prima sketch

Check out the latest Prima sketch. I'm going to work on it this weekend. Anyone want to join me?

And if you want a sneak peak at Prima's new goodies, just check out the Prima Blog I love those Homespun flowers and the Gallery Roses. There are so many great new pearl and crystal designs from centers to borders and more swirls. Prima's paper lines are always gorgeous! Love it all.
