This and that

If you have school-aged children...today is your first official full day of summer vacation. About ten minutes ago, I heard the first "I'm bored...". But we are waiting for dad to get home to go camping, so I think it's just impatience. Hopefully. Just wanted to share some layouts with you. The store has kits in by Simple Stories and they make the quickest little layouts...love the colors too, of all the kits. There are quite a few different lines to choose from.
Let's start with 14 photos on a one page layout:

This line is called Year-o-graphy.
Another called Aweso{me}:

and a few recent stories from our daily life:

I made a "mix tape" for the teachers at school and had an extra liner printed out, so i thought i'd keep a copy for myself and include the list of songs on the layout. kinda fun! took the photos in photo booth on the mac and printed them out - a super quick layout and i kinda dig it.

I hope you are going to have a fantastic summer everyone! So short around here - soak it up!!

Mixed media

I love to play with inks, mists, paints and stamps on my layouts but I often feel like I'm not 'brave' enough with them. I stop before I really build up lots of layers because I don't want to muddy my colours or create too much of a mess. So I'm always on the lookout for tutorials and how-to's from other creative ladies.

I thought some of you might be interested in this one I enjoyed.

Gabrielle Pollacco put together a gorgeous canvas using paints, sprays, hand drawing, chipboard and cheesecloth for the Websters blog. She did it all on camera so you can see how she created her canvas here on her blog.

I hope you enjoy it.

Fancy Pants sumnmer papers

I used the new Fancy Pants summer line on this layout.  Messed up the background paper with some stamping and misted over a chipboard bird.

I love all the bits and pieces with this line.  The banner pieces are fun to mix and match...

Prima has some gorgeous big blooms, like this white one.
The cheesecloth is sprayed with blue mist.

I punched out some black butterflies from some scraps and then used the negative spaces as another element.

The letters are Prima.  When I spotted them I had to snap up both sheets that Unforgettable Memories had in stock.  There is red and brown in one package; green and black in the other.  Loads of letters of each colour so using all those vowels in 'sightseeing' isn't a problem.  I'll be using this set on many more layouts.

I also used some smaller Prima blooms and the package backing from one of Prima's flower packs.

Get ready to scrap all those summer vacation pictures and pick up some Fancy Pants today!

Schools out...

Schools out...

It is for me, anyway.  My kids still have a few days to go, but my last exam is done. Tonight I intend to venture into my scraproom for the first time in far too long.  I think I might start with the June Prima Build-a-page sketch.  This one is right up my alley.

Check out the Prima blog for their designer's inspiration. There are some gorgeous pages based on this sketch.

So pick up some Prima at Unforgettable Memories and play along.
