Blue and green

Blue and green is the challenge over at Scrap the Boys this month.  I don't often use these two colours together as the main theme.  I can remember my Dad when he was helping me pick my outfit for the day when I was in elementary school rhyming ~
"Blue and Green,
should never be seen!"

Here's my background.  I love all the texture!

I used one of my Tim Holtz masks. I used white texture paste ~ the green came off my mask as I was swiping the past across my page.  Guess who doesn't clean off her masks very well after use?
I tried to hold this up in the light so you could see the shimmer from the mists but it still looks better IRL.

And here's the completed layout.  Washi tape on the top and bottom edges, We R Memory Keepers patterned paper as mattes and lots of Prima flowers.  The wood leaves are Kaiser and I have a cute little Jolee's Bird in a Cage sticker.

Here are some closeups of my embellishments...

I punched the little bird and the green leaves out of some Prima packaging. Layered lots of Prima blooms.

Had to get a little camera in there.  The "oh, snap!" is the Smash date stamp.

Check out the little bird in a cage.  Isn't he cute.  It looks like he's looking right at Daniel getting a Papa haircut.

I'm sure all of us have 'boy' photos to scrap so I hope some of you will participate in this challenge.

Fun with mists

I love how my background turned out on this page.  I used my big Glimmer Screen; first on the left hand side, then on the right, overlapping the edge of the pages.  And I used three different colours of Mist; Frost Glimmer Mist, Green Maya Mist and yellow that I made myself using a yellow reinker and my mini mister.
It looks so much better IRL. You will have to take a closer look the next time you are in Unforgettable Memories.

The title and various other rubons are by Crate Paper.

I like how much texture the tree adds to the page.  It is a Jolee sticker.

The cork paper is also great for adding texture to a layout, as is the burlap. I cut little squares and adhered them randomly to my page grouped with some of those Crate Paper rubons and some green buttons.

My sewing machine was hanging out on the dining room table after I finished hemming some pants so I quickly stitched a couple butterfly trails with the brown thread.  The butterflys are punched out of some packaging.

The wood leaves are by Harmonie.

Karen Foster and Tattered Angels

I came across the Karen Foster patterned paper on my last visit to Unforgettable Memories.  It has fish swimming all in tones of green.  I tore wavy strips for the bottom of my layout and tucked the top part of a Tattered Angels bingo card(Life) between the layers.
The clouds are Jolees.  I first placed them upside down on the white background, sprayed with blue Glimmer Mist, and then flipped them back over and stuck them down.
I think my banner looks kinda like a sun :)
All the other embellishments are from my stash ~ MM photo corner & little alpha, Pink Paislee chipboard, Prima flowers, Bella Blvd letter stickers...

Prima's August sketch is up.

And here it is...
Check out how the Prima DT used this sketch here.  There are some gorgeous layouts on display.

I used this sketch with the Bella Blvd papers I recently picked up at the store. Unfortunately I have no Prima papers left in my stash so I can't enter my page in to Prima's monthly contest.  If you get a chance create a layout using this sketch and all Prima product and upload it in to Prima's gallery. You could win a fabulous prize package from Prima.
I can't wait to see all the new Prima product coming in to the store over the next few weeks.

I used one of my favourite border punches on the brown pp.  I love the scallop edge with the insides hollowed out.
Did you spot the cute little bird in his cage? (top right corner)  That's a Jolee's Boutique sticker.  I'm using a couple more of them on my next layout.  They are just adorable.
I layered a couple of the Bella Blvd stickers on the brown paper to create a bit of a matte. The word strip is popdotted over the Prima branch.
The background paper is a piece of Bazzills embossed polka dot paper.

Pre School Graduation

Just because a paper line is not the theme you are looking for does not mean you can't use it in your layout. The paper I used for Hailey's preschool graduation is actually a wedding or love paper from Quic Quotes. The graduation stickers are 7 Gypsies and the Cap and Gown is Jolees. It all tied together because of the colours.
I cut half of the backside strings off of the tasel and attached it to the layout with Super Tape. Then I mounted and pop dotted the sticker tags over top to secure the strings in place and stop them from getting all messy later on.

The cap from the Jolees came with a burgandy tasel. I cut that one off and made my own with some of the left over strings. It was small and fidely but I was happy in the end! YAY!

The Quic Quotes paper I used is on sale until the end of this month.
