Is it finished?

I was working on this layout last week.

When it was done I hung it up in my entryway and looked at it for a few days trying to decide if it was really finished.
Then I spotted this layout of the very talented Ingvild Bolme had done for Prima and loved the edging she had done.
My sewing machine is still sitting on my dining room table from a hemming job I did last week so I threaded it with some cream coloured thread. I used my heart border punch along the bottom edge of my layout. I found some black cardstock with white text printed on it, (it's been in my paper stash forever) and stitched my layout down. Then I roughed up the edges and swiped some brown ink across the tops.

What do you think?  Would you have left your layout plain or do you think the edging treatment really adds something?

Patterned papers are Bo Bunny and 7 Gypsies.
I bought the Making Memories metal travel pieces just for this layout. Journal spot is also Making Memories.
Hambly Screen Prints rubons ~ love the turquoise swirls in the corners.
Karen Foster jewelled brads.
And what layout would be complete without Prima.  Blooms and ferns.

Off to work on my '9' layout.
If you missed the post it is here.
This months prize is a random draw for NINE Gift Card prizes. Woo hoo.  Who wouldn't want to win that?

keep Out Halloween Mini Album

Here are some sneak peeks of one of my October classes. I am super excited about this project. For $33.00 (members) 0r $38.00 (non-members) you can come to class and create a mini book. As a bonus you get the instructions and all you need to complete a two page layout.

This class is on Saturday, October 23 from 1-3 in the afternoon. The classroom will remain open for you to continue working on the bonus layout.

We will be using the My Little Yellow Bicycle House mini book and the all new My Minds Eye Blackbird paper line. Stop by Unforgettable Memories to see both projects.

Fun with mists

I love how my background turned out on this page.  I used my big Glimmer Screen; first on the left hand side, then on the right, overlapping the edge of the pages.  And I used three different colours of Mist; Frost Glimmer Mist, Green Maya Mist and yellow that I made myself using a yellow reinker and my mini mister.
It looks so much better IRL. You will have to take a closer look the next time you are in Unforgettable Memories.

The title and various other rubons are by Crate Paper.

I like how much texture the tree adds to the page.  It is a Jolee sticker.

The cork paper is also great for adding texture to a layout, as is the burlap. I cut little squares and adhered them randomly to my page grouped with some of those Crate Paper rubons and some green buttons.

My sewing machine was hanging out on the dining room table after I finished hemming some pants so I quickly stitched a couple butterfly trails with the brown thread.  The butterflys are punched out of some packaging.

The wood leaves are by Harmonie.

Wilton Goodies!

Wow! Did we ever get some cool Wilton goodies in this past week!

One of my favourites is the Dimensions Multi-Cavity Mini Pumpkins Pan. With one pan you make the top and bottom of 3D Pumpkin Cakes. After baking, put them together with some frosting or filling and then decorate! You could even use them with the melting chocolates and make little candy holders. So many possibilities!

Then there is the Halloween Cookie Shapes Non-Stick Pan. It has 12 classic Halloween shapes. All you do is make up your sugar cookie dough, press it into the pan, bake and decorate. So easy and fun!

We also now have in striped icing from Wilton as well as icing tips that can fit right on the icing tubes.

Come by and check out all our goodies!

Speaking of Challenges

While you are thinking of a way to change things up as Heather challenges you to do, don't forget to include the number 9 in some way on your next layout. If you haven't heard I am challenging you to use the number 9 in some way in honor of Unforgettable Memories 9th birthday. You only have until the end of this month to participate in this challenge. Your name will then be entered into a random draw for one of 9 gift cards. So get creating and show us your stuff by posting to our facebook page or one of the girls at the store can help you out if needed!

I will be posting the challenges on the first Tuesday of every month.
Remember this challenge is open to scrapbookers, card makers and all you bakers too!

Changing it up.

I made this layout yesterday.
The patterned papers are the scraps left over from my last couple of layouts. They were mostly long, thin strips so I put them along the side. I wanted to use a border punch as they've all been gathering dust for the last few scrapping sessions. Sp I didn't tear the papers; the one torn piece is the short rectangle across the bottom and even that's not very messy.

I used one of my Fancy Pants diecuts for the journaling and found some 'lifejacket orange' flowers to drop randomly on the page.
It's a completely different style from my norm. I left it lying on the table most of the day trying to figure out how to 'mess it up', but finally decided to leave it as is. I don't HAVE TO use ink or spray or distress the edges. I CAN create a layout with clean paper and clean lines.

Does it look too neat?

I challenge you to 'change it up'.  Try a different style from your norm.  Explore.  Create.  Enjoy.

2 page layout

I was playing around with my camera while taking a rest break during Paddle for the Peace. From lying down on the sandy beach I got some neat shots of Daniel and the boats through the weeds. I think the different perspective looks really interesting...

I used Bella Blvd patterned papers and some pieces of a cork sheet(love the texture). The weed is from a Hambly Screen Prints sheet, the Explore card is by Tattered Angels(I also sprayed their Glimmer Mist randomly on my background) and the yellow die cuts are by Fancy Pants.  I punched my butterlies out of some Prima packaging.

Eight

That's how many bears we saw on the river in one afternoon. I had to scrapbook about it.  I've never seen more than 2 bears on any one boating trip so to see eight was amazing. I used a big 8 from my set of Tim Holtzes grunge board numbers.  It is sprayed with green Maya Mist and then swiped with brown ink around the edges.

I sprayed the white cardstock across the top edges with 'Frost' Glimmer Mist and inked the corners in brown.  The photo is layered on an 8" x 8" piece of Harmonie patterned paper.  I really like Harmonie's wood cutouts.  Make sure you check them out the next time you're in the store.  I used the 12" tree and owl on a layout last week and here I used leaves and a scroll from the last set I bought.  The leaves create a corner for my photo.  I've layered them over a Fancy Pants diecut.  Did you spot the Prima packaging tucked in over my photo?

The scroll woodcut is nestled in amongst a pile of green Chatterbox buttons.

I glued a couple of buttons over the Basic Grey rub-on lace over my title.
I also used a piece of a Hambly Screens acrylic sheet. That's the black weeds growing up the side.  I can't believe I didn't spot the Hambly stuff earlier.  There is a wonderful butterfly sheet I want to pick up on my next shopping trip.

I hope something amazing happened to you and your family this summer. Don't forget to document the event for your scrapbook.

In honour of the NINETH Birthday your challenge is to create a card, layout or paper project that includes NINE of something. This could be 9 flowers, 9 buttons, 9 papers, 9 brads, 9 photos, 9 journaling spots, the number 9 .... You get the idea. This months prize is a random draw for NINE Gift Card prizes.

Remember this challenge depends on your participation! I can't wait to see your projects!

Easy Project

All you need is some glue, pop dots, crystals, Maya Mist and some chipboard. I have a ton of these wood picture frames from Ikea and thought I would get a little creative.
I glued some flourishes to the frame. Sprayed some Maya Road Mist onto the chipboard bracket frame. Glued down the chipboard heart, and letters. Added a little bling and just like that a cute frame worthy of any family photo!

Just Add Water

My husband came up with that title.  We spent a weekend camping at Pillar Lake in July.  Most of our waking hours were spent on the water in a variety of little boats the Resort rented out.

I designed my layout on a couple pieces of Bazzills embossed dotty cardstock.  In dark blue this time.

The tree patterned paper by K & Co is perfect for all those outdoor photos we've been taking all summer. I've used some Bella Blvd camping cutouts, Basic Grey rubons, Jenni Bowlin buttons and Bo Bunny brads.

I love that leafy ribbon ~ Unforgettable Memories has it in a variety of colours.

I managed to get 9 photos on this layout.  It really helps to get all those summer photos scrapped before the snow flies.
I challenge you to scrap a layout with 9 or more photos on it.
