Origami gift box

This pretty little box is about 4” square and 2” high. Perfect for a small gift.
You will need two pieces of 12x12 pp or cardstock. Trim ¼” off 2 sides of the paper you are going to use for the box bottom. This will make it easier to fit the lid on without warping your box.
Fold your paper in half, open up and fold in half the opposite way. Open up again and fold all four corners towards the center.
Fold your paper in half again; once lengthwise
and then widthwise.
Unfold.
Now comes the tricky part. You are basically folding the sides around the bottom of the box. Pull in the sides and then fold the end over and into the center of the box.

Fold in the other end of the box.

For added stability and neatness, glue down the bottom flaps.
Use the second piece of 12x12 pp or cardstock to create a lid for your box.

Decorate the box as desired.

Wouldn't this gift box look cute under the tree made out of Xmas papers with a pretty poinsetta flower on top?

I googled Origami and found this video of a guy making this same box out of a Xmas card. What a neat idea for recycling those cards. If you’re having problems following my instructions and photos watch the video. You’ll get it immediately.
