Rick's rock garden

I started this layout with two pieces of plain green cardstock. I used my 12 x 12 leaf mask with some brown Maya Mist and gold Glimmer mist.  I edged the cardstock with purple dye ink and then stamped a border with bronze metallic ink. The papers and stickers are mostly We R Memory Keepers.

After I put down my pieces of patterned paper I randomly stamped a small Prima stamp and added some white rub-ons.

Once I added my photos I started with the embellishments.  I love the coppery butterfly and flower set by Prima.  This is the second package I've used.  You better get in there before I go back for more!

You can see how the gold in the background glimmers on this picture. The cheesecloth has been sprayed with brown Maya Mist.

I used some Washi tape with text printed on it.  My two photos over the garden tour pamphlet are only glued together and then attached on the outsides creating a slip through pocket. I tucked my journaling in with the pamphlet.

My Mum's puppy managed to get in on the photos so I had a reason to add this cute little clip from Basic Grey's pet line.

I love all the browns and golds on the green.  It is a very organic look.  Perfect for garden photos.

Next time you are in the store grab some cardstock, a mask or two and some ink mists. And make you're own background for a layout.  I'd love to see what you come up with.

Using scrapbook products creatively

My friend said she wanted to make concrete leaves and my hubby just happened to have some concrete lying around so we had him whip up a few batches while we collected leaves from the garden.  We spent a Saturday afternoon making 3 or 4 leaves each and left them to dry for a week.

We painted the leaves black with acrylic paint and then started with the Perfect Pearls and Pearlex that I've had in my scrapbooking stash for eons.
The set of 4 Perfect Pearls I have has rust in it. I used it down the center of my leaf in the bigger 'veins'.
The gold turned green on the darker parts of the leaf and showed up gold beside the rust colour.  So interesting.
I tapped on white Perfect Pearls around the edges and I'm thinking to make this truely a scrapbooking project I might journal around the edges before sealing the leaf so I can put it outside in my garden.

I can't wait to make more of these.  The colours are stunning IRL. They are going to be great accent pieces for my garden. I might even do a scrapbook page on them...

A perfect scrapbook day

What to do when it's pouring rain out.  The garden doesn't need watering, housekeeping can wait and even the dog doesn't want to go out in the wet for a walk, so I'm scrapbooking.

Prima just put up this months sketch.  Love it!

You can see what the fabulous Prima designers did with this sketch on their blog.

Be sure to show us your layout using this sketch.
