A new month of challenges

I plan on beating last months number of challenges completed.  It shouldn't be hard.  I only managed to get three pages finished and posted.

I'm off to a good start for April.  My boys are working today and Daddy & Breanna are heading down to visit his parents in Vernon for the week. So first thing this morning I hauled up half my scraproom and took over the dining room table.

The first blog I came across that had posted their April challenge was Stuck?! and I had the perfect photo for it.

Here's the sketch...

and here's my page...

I started off with a 12x12 sheet of white Bazzill cardstock and misted over my scrolly masks using blue Chalkboard mist and cherub pink Glimmer Mist.

Here are some close-ups.

The musical notes tape is by Tim Holtz. It is quite transparent. Love it!
The papers and stickers are all from Simple Stories baby line.  Very pretty pastel colours and designs. I used a ton of the baby word stickers on this layout.

The pink hearts are brads by Bazzill.  I'm not sure how many come in the package, but I've used them on more than a few layouts.  I love that they are oversized.

The big flower is by Prima. The colours are perfect with the Simple Stories baby line.  It came with a coordinating butterfly, but I couldn't find a place for it on this page.  Maybe on my next layout.

Off to find some more April challenges to work on...

Misting and stamping

I used Cosmo Cricket's odds & ends line on this two page layout of my cute nephew enjoying his Mexican vacation.

I started with two 12x12 sheets of kraft cardstock as my background.  I wanted to do a misted border down the left side so I covered all but 3" with a piece of scrap paper.  I laid my curly mask and sprayed with Espresso and then with Gold glimmer mist.  Then I pulled out my world stamp and placed 4 images on to my border.

I used the same recipe on the lower right corner.

Here are some closeups...

I used loads of the stickers from odds & ends on this layout, like the 3 tags I tucked under the photo of snoozin' Wade.

I love the huge green brads in the center of the red flowers.  They are so bold and vibrant.  I think they're by Bazzill.  I know Unforgettable Memories has them in a few colours.

I layered some more stickers on top of a piece of patterned paper and a length of MM's travel tape.

I wanted more green on my layout so I drizzled some ink vertically in a couple of places. Just hold the paper upright so it dribbles down the page.

2 page layout

I was playing around with my camera while taking a rest break during Paddle for the Peace. From lying down on the sandy beach I got some neat shots of Daniel and the boats through the weeds. I think the different perspective looks really interesting...

I used Bella Blvd patterned papers and some pieces of a cork sheet(love the texture). The weed is from a Hambly Screen Prints sheet, the Explore card is by Tattered Angels(I also sprayed their Glimmer Mist randomly on my background) and the yellow die cuts are by Fancy Pants.  I punched my butterlies out of some Prima packaging.

Karen Foster and Tattered Angels

I came across the Karen Foster patterned paper on my last visit to Unforgettable Memories.  It has fish swimming all in tones of green.  I tore wavy strips for the bottom of my layout and tucked the top part of a Tattered Angels bingo card(Life) between the layers.
The clouds are Jolees.  I first placed them upside down on the white background, sprayed with blue Glimmer Mist, and then flipped them back over and stuck them down.
I think my banner looks kinda like a sun :)
All the other embellishments are from my stash ~ MM photo corner & little alpha, Pink Paislee chipboard, Prima flowers, Bella Blvd letter stickers...

Misters

You may have noticed if you read the blog regularly that Heather shows all the fun things you can do with misters. A few days ago you can see that I mentioned the new Smooch misters that we have in stock. We also have Tattered Angels and Maya Road misters available for purchase.

Maya Road Spray Mist are water-based pigments that come in 2fl.oz pump spray bottles. There are 8 base colors and 3 metallic glitter colors. Spray a coat of metallic mist before adding on a base color for a shimmery sparkle effect.

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist is a quick and easy spray that delivers just a touch of glimmer in a fine mist to make all of your projects shine. Glimmer Mist puts an end to messy, clumpy, and time consuming conventional glitters with over 80 colors to choose from so finding the right one for your project is easy. Glimmer Mist is safe for and adheres to all types of materials including paper, acrylic, metal, and fabric.

Here is a great example of Heather's misting techniques. Why not try it for yourself?
