A sketch challenge

I love the sketch at Once Upon A Sketch this month. And stretching it into a two pager works too.

Here's the sketch...

And here's my layout...

Lots of Prima on this layout, and various scraps of patterned paper I had lying around my desk.  I love the strips of jewels.  Unforgettable Memories has 6" lengths and 12" lengths. The ones I used on this page are 6" purple bling.

If you are scrapbooking this weekend and are looking for some inspiration there are lots of sketch blogs to check out.  Try Once Upon A Sketch for a great sketch and lots of creative ideas.

A perfect scrapbook day

What to do when it's pouring rain out.  The garden doesn't need watering, housekeeping can wait and even the dog doesn't want to go out in the wet for a walk, so I'm scrapbooking.

Prima just put up this months sketch.  Love it!

You can see what the fabulous Prima designers did with this sketch on their blog.

Be sure to show us your layout using this sketch.

Simple Stories two page layout

Sunday, 12 February, 2012Simple Stories two page layout

I found a new sketch blog... it's called Sketchabilities. Check it out. I used this weeks sketch and stretched it to a double pager.

I started off with a couple pieces of white bazzill and all the leafy masks I owned. Most of them are Heidi Swapp leaf masks. I sprayed green Glimmer Mist and then splattered some yellow ink in places.

I chose the baby line from Simple Stories; I love the colours! And started placing my pieces...

I picked this sketch because I love the banners. I had so much fun putting them together...

I have a triangle punch for those flags. The others I hand cut...

I added some Jenni Bowlin tickets, MM love tabs, Stickers from the Simple Stories line and some big brads...

I loved this sketch. And love how my page turned out...

So check out Sketchabilities. I know I'll be checking out their next sketch.

Prima's August sketch is up.

And here it is...
Check out how the Prima DT used this sketch here.  There are some gorgeous layouts on display.

I used this sketch with the Bella Blvd papers I recently picked up at the store. Unfortunately I have no Prima papers left in my stash so I can't enter my page in to Prima's monthly contest.  If you get a chance create a layout using this sketch and all Prima product and upload it in to Prima's gallery. You could win a fabulous prize package from Prima.
I can't wait to see all the new Prima product coming in to the store over the next few weeks.

I used one of my favourite border punches on the brown pp.  I love the scallop edge with the insides hollowed out.
Did you spot the cute little bird in his cage? (top right corner)  That's a Jolee's Boutique sticker.  I'm using a couple more of them on my next layout.  They are just adorable.
I layered a couple of the Bella Blvd stickers on the brown paper to create a bit of a matte. The word strip is popdotted over the Prima branch.
The background paper is a piece of Bazzills embossed polka dot paper.

Prima's April sketch

Prima has their April sketch up.  I'm not going to tell you whether or not I plan on doing it because everytime I say I'm going to, I never do.  So it will be a surprise for us both if I get it done this month.  :)  I have to say though, that this is one of my favourite sketches I've seen from Prima.

You can see how Prima's DT used this sketch on their blog.
I think Ingvild Bolme's layout is my favourite.  Which one is your fav?

Prima has Marches sketch up

I've started the last two sketches and never finished them.  Maybe this third one is the charm :)
I love using circles on my layouts.  Don't you?  Check out how the Prima DT has used this sketch for their layouts.  You have till March 30th to put your sketch in Prima's gallery.

Little Yellow Bicycle

There are two new lines by Little Yellow Bicycle in the store.  They are both awesome.  The 'Lucky' line is in hues of wonderful greens and blues. To coordinate there are loads of stickers and rub-ons.

I chose the 'Generation Z' line to play with first.

I really like the acrylic clear cut frames.  There are five of them in the package. I used two of them on my double page layout below.
I used this weeks sketch from Sketchy Thursdays to get me going on this layout.

I had fun with my snowflake punches.  Next to my butterfly punches I think the snowflakes are my favourite and most used. Oh, I also love my leaf punches and use them often.
For this layout I pulled out two large snowflakes and a med snowflake, as well as my 1/2" circle punch.  I punched everything out of patterned paper then layered a circle on top of the one style of large snowflake punch and held it all together with a clear bling brad.

Make sure you check out the new Little Yellow Bicycle designs the next time you're in the store.

It's OK to scraplift

Last Friday I got together with some fellow paper crafters for a night of scrapbooking. When I go away to a crop night I like to leave prepared. I try to have my sketch, pictures, paper, and embellishments all ready to go so I can get down to business and not have to fret too much!

This is a layout from the January edition of Canadian Scrapbooker. I loved all the white around the outside edges
This is my version of the layout in the magazine. Remember a sketch or layout is often just a starting point. It may be all you need to get started. Look for some inspiration and get those photos scrapbooked!

Been Scrapping....

So with all this summer heat I've been taking some time to soak up the cool air from the crop room here at the store and it's been fun! I've actually been scrapbooking...The kids are still on holidays so I've had some extra time on my hands. I love the time but I miss the kids, can't wait until they get home Monday.
Here's a photo of my newest layout, I made with a few extra sheets of paper and the scraps from the My Family Word Book class kit. You can email or stop by to preorder these kits now, but hurry in because we'll only have a limited number of kits available.
I almost forgot the Layout is done with the Prima Sketch that Heather posted on our blog back at the beginning of the month. You can find it at this link: http://unforgettablescrapbook.blogspot.com/2009/07/new-prima-sketch.html
Cost for the kit is $45 and for members just $40. It's created with the Bo Bunny Beautiful Life collection.

I also have a copy of Crystals Newest Class coming up August 25th at 7pm. You can email or stop by to pre register for this class or kit, again space is going to be limited so don't be disapointed and register soon!

We've also had lots of new goodies arrive from

A sketch.

I just finished sketching...
and then creating the layout with Bo Bunny goodies...

I love the Bugs line from Bo Bunny. The patterned papers are fun, the stickers are perfect for so many outdoor pages, and the brads are unique. Brown, green and orange together is one of my favourite colour combos.

I hope you get a chance to use this sketch. Be sure to show us your finished layout.

May Sketch

I checked Prima's website for their monthly sketch and couldn't see one. Have they decided to pass on it this month? Anyone know?

I thought I'd make my own sketch for this month. Good thing it's been a slow week at work because Microsoft Word is not the most graphic friendly program to use. Anyway, this is what I came up with. I'm scrapping four 2" x 3" photos.
Notice the scroll along the bottem? I have a very fun technique to show you. I used the waste from a Prima jewelled scroll and stickles to recreate that scroll across the bottom of my photos. When the stickles dries and my page is finished I'll upload it, with a 'how-to'.

I hope you try my sketch and then leave us a link in the comments below so we can see how you interpreted it.

Prima's April Sketch

Prima has their April sketch up. You can check out what their fabulous DT has done with the sketch on the Prima blog. Everything from one photo layouts, to 4 photo, to six photo. It's amazing how everyone can come up with such unique layouts using one sketch for inspiration.
I used two photos on my 'Captain Cutie' layout.

The papers are all Cosmo Cricket from their 'Campy' line. I embellished with some Pebbles chipboard, Prima pretties and the title is Chatterbox 'Artsy-licious'
