December Daily Class

So tomorrow is December 1st. Big day at our house, the first official day of the Christmas Holiday Season. Time to start taking lots of pictures and journaling all about the memories and traditions.
Join me on Thursday, December 8th at 7pm in the brand new classroom at Unforgettable Memories to create this festive paper bag mini album. This class is $30.00 for members and $25.00 for members. We will get a good start on the mini book and you will be able to follow the pattern easily with very detailed step by step photo instructions.
If you are thinking about taking this class start taking photos and journal daily invents. All photos are horizontal 2x3 wallet size and each day has room for one to 3 photos.
This book could also be used to house Christmas memories and does not have to be the 25 days of Decmeber.

It's December Daily Time!

It's December Daily time again.
I first heard about creating a December Daily from Ali Edwards, a designer, author and online blogger. I thought it was such a great idea. The point is to document daily activity for the days leading up to Christmas Day. The little things tend to get lost in all the hussel and bussel. So you take photos and journal then document in an album. This will be my third year creating a December Daily. It is really neat to pull out the past two and compare. The girls have changed so much! Join me to create your December Daily. I have made it easy for you to focus on the memories! Class details will be posted this week! But for now here is a sneak peek.

I want you to do a December Daily

Well, December is here and it's time for the December Daily album that Lynette and Crystal have told you about already. I did it last year and the best thing about it is reading it now, a year later, and being able to remember through words and the photos what our family was like then. (And of course, what the month was like for us too.) I encourage you to start one up tonight! It's only the second...and it doesn't have to be fancy. It doesn't have to be Christmas-y. It doesn't have to have all the perfect "stuff" in it (though you know where to find it if you need any!)
It could be a plain notebook that you intentionally journal in every day this month, without any photos. It can be one photo a day on some cardstock, with a few lines about your day, or a favorite memory or a tradition you love.

I've been looking forward to starting my daily documentation for weeks. Last year, I realized that it really helps you to notice the details of your life and really enjoy them. Christmas didn't seem quite so stressful (even though the word 'sick' was written down much too frequently - oh my poor kids!) So now this book is not only fun and cool and interesting - it's also THERAPEUTIC. How can you go wrong?

If Christmas isn't a big thing for you, or you don't celebrate at all, it doesn't need to be about that just because it's December - the point is, it's a very cool and interesting project to gather the memories of a whole month and have them in one album. Your regular, everyday comings and goings, joys and disappointments, thoughts and conversations. Your LIFE, in the month of December, 2009.

This year's book is looking kind of skinny and sad still, so here's a few photos from last years album. And I'm serious! and bossy! start one tonight - you won't regret it.

31 Day's of Christmas...

So a friend of mine, Jen, came by the store a few weeks ago and mention this really cool album that Ali Edwards was doing on her blog all about the 25 days of Christmas. The chain started then, Jen told Jen who told me and I spread to the word to a few people as did they to a few others and...never thinking I would actually start an album like this but loving the idea before I knew it one thing lead to another and the inspiration must have rubber off on a few of us and after a fun evening of getting our books started......here I am on the 1st of December and I've taken my first picture and am just working on my jounalling. Jen Louie was one of the group of us that worked on these albums. (I believe I have her to thank for inspiring my other friend Jen since it was their excitement that made me want to do one too! :) )

Tonight we were off to see the lights illuminated on the large tree outside the Hospital as the Hospital Foundation winds up there annual Light a Light campaign. As we were waiting for Carol-Lyn to get out of dance last night Tyler asked me when they light up all the lights on the big tree at the hospital. This is something that my mom has usually taken my kids to and I'd never realized how much they'd enjoyed seeing the tree lite up on Decemeber 1st. (I think they're drawn also by the warm hot chocolate and christmas cookies they served there!) He called grandma as we were driving and asked her when it was starting and I could hear him tell her..." Well Grandma you could just pick me up and we could go together...yep...alright see you tomorrow...thanks Grandma!"   " OK mom it's tomorrow and Grandma's going to come get me...GRIN"  Well grandma had plans right after the light up so all of us went together tonight to watch them light the large tree up. Just as we arrived I decided I would take some wonderful pictures..perfect for the start of my album....BUT...(I can't belive i'm going to admit this) The batteries were dead...yup, went to take the perfect pics to start my album and no camera batteries.(Note to self...put an extra set in the case since it is a busy holiday season and I don't want to end up in that predicament again.) So I surfed the energetic city.ca website and managed to find an image there. Added a bit of special effects with the help of our new online photo lab and voila...here's the picture for the start of my album.

Watch for more posts as I made a commitment that this album would be filled ( the girls were giving me a bad time about the stacks of 60 some odd mini books I have that don't have pictures in them) so i'll be posting regularly and making sure I'm keeping up.... (hey girsl I'll be looking to see your book up to date too ...GRIN)

Until tomorrow,
Lynettte

December Daily

So have you heard about the December Daily project over on Ali Edwards blog? If you have I hope you are very busy creating and compiling. If not check it out here http://aliedwards.typepad.com/. She talks about creating an artsy scrapbook that focuses on journaling and photos. You gather stuff you want to use, make a plan, put it together. And then when December 1st comes you start taking photos and journal each day. Here are some shot of mine...
These pictures show the side view. There is no rhyme or reason to the way or which pages I choose. I just wanted it to flow and flip nicely. This book is really full and I think it adds to the "fullness" of the holidays. I can't wait to get photos and journaling! The album is a Making Memories and I knew it would be perfect. The only problem was I couldn't grow to thick and I tried to manage that! I mostly used My Little Yellow Bycicle, some Making Memories and Basic Grey. I also tried to use bits and pieces from my stash!
